The charter:

Charter ‘Target’, our 11.9m cruiser, and explore the beauty of the Bay of Islands. During your time on board you can fish for a range of fish including Kingfish, Puka and Snapper.

Our friendly, experienced, local skippers are happy to tailor the day to your requirements and will go out of their way to make it an experience you will never forget.

We can drop members of your party off on one of the bay’s many islands and come back to pick them up later, giving them a chance to explore whilst the rest of the party fish.

Fishing for Yellowtail Kingfish

Fishing for Kingis is a whole food chain experience! You will start by catching mackeral or kahawhai to use as livebaits.

Then you will head out to the places where the kingis are to be found and use a variety of methods to catch them…livebaits down deep or on the surface under a balloon, but sometimes the long jigs or artificial baits and lures can be the successful formula.

Yellowtail Kingfish are without a doubt one of the most powerful, hard-fighting fish on a pound for pound (or kilo for kilo) basis and grow to over 130lbs or 60kgs…an awesome experience!

You don’t need any experience as our crew will help and coach you through the whole process.

Saltwater fly-fishing

For you experienced fly-fishers this is a perfect place as there are often huge work-

Snapper fishing

Although we specialise in game fishing if you want to charter the boat for a day snapper fishing…no problem! In fact we often catch the BIG snapper while we are live-baiting for yellowtail kingfish.

Fishing equipment / tackle:

We supply all top quality Shimano rods and reels and all bait, tackle, jigs etc is supplied but you are more than welcome to bring your favourite lucky gear with you
